An L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) unit has won a $33.2 million contract to install high-definition imaging kits on U.S. Navy aircraft simulators, Military and Aerospace Electronics reported Wednesday.
John Keller writes the Naval Air Warfare Center’s training systems division intends for the kits to help guide pilots as they fly the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet in a simulator.
Keller reports the company will install the SimuSphere HD, which is designed to provide pilots HD imagery as they work to detect and identify targets during missions.
L-3 will also be responsible technical services and spare parts for F/A-18 combat jet flight simulators and HD visual systems of the U.S. Navy and Australian air force.
