BAE to Engineer, Develop Navy Weapon Launch System Tech

Bae systems logo_ExecutiveBizBAE Systems has won a potential $91.4 million contract to help the U.S. Navy engineer and develop technology for a weapons system located below a naval ship’s armored deck.

The company serves as the mechanical design agent for the Mk 41 Vertical Launching System, BAE said Thursday.

BAE engineers will also work on the design of the system’s canister and launcher, continue developing the Mk 29 canister and support the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program and Aegis Ashore systems.

Nearly $6.3 million is being funded at the time of award and the company will perform contract work through December 2016.
