BAE Systems has handed the British army a combat vehicle intended to help soldiers detect hostile forces from a remote distance under a potential $550 million contract, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
Robert Wall writes the 32-ton Terrier combat vehicle is designed to accommodate a 7.62-milimeter machine gun, fire smoke grenades and travel 50 miles per hour with a nearly 5.5-ton freight.
The company will maintain the remote-controlled Terrier for five years, according to the report.
Waller reports BAE is contracted to provide 60 vehicles to the British army by January 2014.
