Exelis to Update AF Intell Data System’s Memory Tech; Nick Bobay Comments

ExelisLogoITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has won a $6.1 million contract modification to install new memory and data storage technology for the U.S. Air Force.

The Air Force intends to use the new technology to retrieve and authenticate intelligence through a command and control system it uses to verify pass codes and provide orders to both support and frontline soldiers, Exelis said Tuesday.

Exelis will also review the Strategic Automated Command Control System‘s design for the nine-month project.

“Exelis has a longstanding relationship in its original development and current sustainment role with the Air Force on the SACCS, ” Nick Bobay, Exelis president and general manager of night vision and tactical communications.
