Lockheed Wins Option on Potential $1B Infrared Kit Contract

LockheedLogoLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a modification under a potential $1, 621, 177, 812 contract to build infrared countermeasures kits for the U.S. Air Force.

This $9, 250, 005 modification covers kits for the C-130J Super Hercules Group A aircraft, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Work will occur in Greenville, S.C. through March 31, 2015 and the Air Force is allocating fiscal year 2011 funds for the award.

In late 2012, Saudi Arabia requested to buy $6.7 billion in Lockheed-made plans from the U.S. government, including 20 C-130J-30 transport and five KC-130J tanker aircraft.

Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are other Middle East countries that are either using the C-130J or have the plane on order.
