Wyle Wins Potential $2B NASA Health Contract to Support Human Spaceflight Prgms

Wyle logo_GovConWireWyle Laboratories Inc. has won a potential $1.76 billion human health and performance contract to support NASA’s Johnson Space Center human spaceflight programs.

Under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the company will provide the agency with biomedical, medical and health services, according to a statement from the space agency.

The contract, which begins May 1, consists of cost-plus-award-fee task orders, five-year base period, and two option periods that could extend the contract until 2023.

This contract will support numerous NASA programs and offices including the International Space Station, Orion, advanced exploration systems, space technology mission directorate, human research program and commercial crew and cargo programs.NASA LOGO

The company’s work will include the following:

  • fundamental and applied biomedical research
  • biotechnology development
  • operational space medicine
  • occupational health and medicine
  • management of clinical, biomedical, space food and environmental laboratories

The contract also requires a wide range of support in behavioral sciences including spacecraft environment monitoring and management; biomedical engineering; biomedical flight hardware requirements, testing and operation; and payload and hardware integration with the Space Station.

Wyle and subcontractor Lockheed Martin Services Inc. will perform work at the Johnson Space Center and Wyle facilities.
