Report: Dell Committee Examining Blackstone, Icahn Takeover Bids

DellLogoA special committee within Dell‘s (NASDAQ: DELL) board of directors is looking at alternative takeover proposals nearly a month after the company agreed to $24.4 billion buyout deal with Silver Lake.

The company is evaluating the proposals from Blackstone Group and Carl Icahn during a 45-day go-shop period, Reuters reports.

Icahn offered $15 per share for 58 percent of Dell’s stock and Blackstone offered more than $14.25 per share for Dell in a bid that would set aside some Dell stock for public trading, according to Reuters.

Michael Dell and Silver Lake will have one chance to revise their original bid if the committee decides either offer from Icahn or Blackstone is superior, the report said.
