Northrop Wins $434M to Maintain AF Global Hawk Drone

NorthropLogoNorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has won a $434 million contract to maintain the U.S. Air Force‘s fleet of Global Hawk drones, Military & Aerospace Electronics reports.

The company’s aerospace systems will be responsible for contractor logistics support work on the unmanned aerial vehicles through September 2014, John Keller reports.

Keller lists aircraft and engine overhaul, fixing and restoring parts, sustaining engineering and managing the supply chain as examples of contractor logistics support tasks.

According to the report, the Air Force has increased its use of contractor logistics support contracts for depot maintenance for airframes and engines over the last decade.

Contractor logistics support contracts intend to cover a weapon system’s total life cycle, Keller writes.
