General Dynamics Building DHS Cyber Protection Tools; Cynthia Shelton Comments

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) has won 12-month task order from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to build and deploy cybersecurity for defending federal civilian networks from intrusion.

The National Cybersecurity Protection System, managed by DHS’ network security deployment division, contains technologies for analytics and sharing information, General Dynamics said Wednesday.

DHS’ U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team uses the NCPS as the technological foundation for its activities, according to the company.

Cynthia Shelton, vice president of enterprise mission solutions in the cyber systems division, said the company has worked with US-CERT and the network security deployment division for seven years.

Shelton added the company will develop tools to help the division’s stakeholders address cyber threats.

General Dynamics won the order through the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge contract vehicle.
