Unisys (NYSE: UIS) has won a potential $650 million contract to help the Internal Revenue Service operate computers used to process tax returns and maintain taxpayer records.

The single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract contains one base year and nine option years and the company will perform work under task orders, Unisys said Tuesday.

“With this contract award, Unisys continues our work with the IRS to help the agency with its mission-critical computing operations, ” said PV Puvvada, group vice president for civilian agencies in Unisys’ federal systems unit.

Under the Enterprise Computing Center Support contract, the company will help the IRS run its computing environment which includes Unisys-provided ClearPath Dorado servers.

For the last decade, the company also helped the agency consolidate its processing operations under the predecessor Service Center Support System contract.
