Thales Wraps Up Helmet Mounted Business Buy

ThalesLogoThales Group has completed its acquisition of a helmet mounted display and motion tracking business from Gentex Corp. for an undisclosed amount.

Effective Dec. 28, 2012, the new company is operating as a Thales subsidiary under the new name Thales Visionix, Thales said Thursday.

The subsidiary will retain its current management team and will also operate under a proxy agreement with the U.S. Defense Department.

Thales said it aims for the acquisition to complement its portfolio of helmet mounted sight and display systems for rotary and fixed wing platforms.

The France-based defense and electronics conglomerate will also continue to develop the Intersense motion tracking systems business within Thales Visionix.
