Harris Wins $500M For Army Radios, Equipment

HarrisLogoHarris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has won a potential $500 million contract modification to provide the U.S. Army radios, support equipment and associated services.

This modification intends to increase the ceiling value of a previously-awarded contract, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

The Army will determine work location with each order under the firm-fixed-price contract.

Work is scheduled to complete by Dec. 15, 2015 and the U.S. Army Contracting Command’s office at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. is the contracting activity.

Harris and Thales Communications are competing for task orders to provide the Navy handheld radios under two separate contracts worth up to $1.35 billion combined.

Each Type 1-certified, software-defined, handheld radio is intended to have multiple radio variants.
