General Dynamics Wins $224M For Army Rockets, Engineering; Steve Elgin Comments

GDlogoGeneral Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) armament and technical products business unit has won two contracts worth $223.9 million combined to produce air-to-ground rockets for the U.S. Army.

The company will also provide engineering services to the Army for the Hydra-70 rocket program, General Dynamics said Wednesday.

Since 1996, General Dynamics has served as systems integrator for Hydra rockets, which the Army orders for the U.S. military and some allies.

“General Dynamics has supplied Hydra rockets to U.S. warfighters and to several of the nation’s closest allies for more than 15 years, ” said Steve Elgin, vice president and general manager of armament systems.

Final deliveries of the rockets are scheduled for early 2015 under this contract.

Hydra rockets comprise of a Mk66 rocket motor and a warhead, intended for helicopters and other types of aircraft.

Production work will occur at the company’s Camden, Ark., and Springboro, Ohio facilities, while engineering services and program management support occurs at the company’s technology center in Williston, Vt.

More than 300 professionals are based at the technology center.
