Dan Hushon, a former chief technologist at EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC), has joined Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) as chief technology officer.

Hushon’s appointment is effective Feb. 28 and he will report to Mike Lawrie, chairman and CEO, the company said Thursday.

The 20-year information technology industry veteran has also held chief technologist roles within Sun Microsystems, CSC said.

“Our company’s transformation initiative relies heavily on our ability to drive growth in next-generation technology solutions, ” Lawrie said.

Lawrie added the company looked to Hushon for his leadership experience in developing cloud, big data, analytics and other technologies in his new role.

While at EMC, he served as chief technologist for that company’s big data, cloud technologies and next-generation infrastructure initiatives and held the same role for the service provider business.

At Sun, he served as chief technologist for a cloud service and also held that role for the global sales organization.
