The company said Murphy will be responsible for acquiring new business in the defense sector, identifying opportunities and leading proposal development.

He will also be responsible for building relationships with team partners as part of capture strategy.

John Scarcella, Catapult’s senior vice president of enterprise systems, said the company added Murphy to the leadership team as part of plans to grow its customer base and build upon its defense sector business.

At L-3, Murphy served as senior federal business development representative and was responsible for identifying and acquiring business.

He also focused on growing the company’s business in indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity and governmentwide acquisition contracts.

According to the company, he acquired $21 million in new revenue for L-3 over three years and helped grow its IDIQ and GWAC contract business by 21 percent.

Before joining L-3, he served as vice president of federal sales at JRM Resource Management and worked with the departments of Defense and Interior, the Air Force, Army, Navy and other agencies.

He led a team of five direct federal sales representatives in managing accounts and driving revenue.

Murphy also held positions at CrossMatch Technologies, ADS Inc. and Allnet Communications.
