Raytheon MDA X-Band Radar Contract Now $571M

Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) contract to produce X-band missile defense radars for the Missile Defense Agency is now worth $571, 946, 872, the Defense Department said Thursday.

The company won a $207, 922, 395 firm-fixed-price modification to build an AN/TPY-2 radar, three forward-based Prime Power Units and associated spares.

According to MDA, 11 total radars are planned for the program with three having been deployed to U.S. partners.

Seven radars have been produced and three are currently in production.

The radar contains layered sensors for tracking ballistic missiles and also provides surveillance, track, discrimination and fire control support
for the Lockheed Martin-made (NYSE: LMT) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.

Raytheon will perform work in Woburn, Mass. from Jan. 1, 2013 to May 30, 2015 and MDA’s office in Huntsville, Ala. is the contracting activity.
