Harris Names Army Vet James Morris Integrated Net Solutions Lead; William Brown Comments

Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has appointed James Morris group president for the integrated network solutions business including the Harris CapRock Communications subsidiary, healthcare solutions and information technology services units.

The company said Morris, a 20-year commercial sector veteran and retired Army intelligence officer, will report to Chairman and CEO William Brown.

“His breadth of experience leading global technology operations, combined with his deep expertise in strategy development and background in the U.S. military, will be a tremendous asset to Harris, ” Brown said. “As a member of our leadership team, he will play an important role in helping us achieve our strategy of growing our commercial and international businesses.”

Morris previously served as executive vice president and general manager for Western Digital Corp.’s commercial products businesses, which Harris said generate $7 billion in total revenue.

He also led WD’s notebook and desktop operations during his 11-year career there.

Morris has also served as a senior engagement manager with McKinsey and Company in its Chicago and Johannesburg offices.

He is a recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
