General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD Electric Boat subsidiary has won a potential $222.3 million contract to upgrade non-nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy, the subsidiary said Monday.
The contract is initially worth $41 million and contains four annual options for the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative.
Nearly 250 Electric Boat staffers will perform non-nuclear overhaul, repair and modernization services for submarines, floating dry docks, support and service craft and other equipment in Groton, Conn.
The subsidiary also holds an estimated $459 million contract for design agent and technical support work on nuclear submarines.
Under another $881 million award, the Groton-based business is conducting lead-yard work such as technology insertion on Virginia-class nuclear submarines.
