Cisco Completes $1.2B Acquisition of Cloud Networking Firm Meraki

cisco_logo_250_250Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) has completed its purchase of cloud networking company Meraki Inc. for approximately $1.2 billion in cash, according to a Cisco statement.

According to the San Jose, Calif.-based company, the Meraki team will be integrated into Cisco’s cloud networking group.

Meraki’s cloud networking solutions for midmarket customers is expected to expand Cisco’s network offerings to help customers empower mobile workforces, generate new revenue opportunities for partners and offer more software-centric solutions to simplify network management.

The acquisition will attempt to strengthen Cisco’s unified access platform to simplify IT operations and unifying wired and wireless networks, policy and management into one integrated network infrastructure, Cisco said.
