BAE to Provide Gun System on USS Lyndon Johnson

BAE Systems‘ U.S. land and armaments business has won a $24 million U.S. Navy modification to exercise options for a gun system on the future USS Lyndon B. Johnson.

According to the Defense Department, the Zumwalt-class destroyer will employ two 155-milimeter Advance Gun Systems gun mounts and magazines in support of ground expeditionary forces.

The Pentegon says the gun can fire 10 rounds per minute thorough an automated magazine loading system.

Work under this modification is expected to be completed by January 2018 and the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington is the contracting activity.
