Raytheon to Continue Army Cruise Missile Sensor Program

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has won a $59, 034, 271 contract modification to work on a missile defense sensor system for the U.S. Army, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

Work will support the Army’s Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor.

The company says the sensor’s primary mission is to detect, track and provide warfighters targeting data regarding ballistic missiles, aircraft, drones, large caliber rockets, moving ground targets and ships at sea.

Work under the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract will occur in Andover, Mass. through Sept. 28, 2013 and the Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala. is the contracting activity.

Raytheon also holds a $106.4 million award to provide the Navy radar equipment for the branch’s Aegis system.
