NetApp Promotes Jay Kidd to CTO; Tom Georgens Comments

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) has promoted Jay Kidd to senior vice president and chief technology officer, the company announced Wednesday.

He will report to Manish Goel, executive vice president of product operations, and hold responsibility for shaping the company’s technology vision.

The company also announced the appointment of Jonathan Kissane to its SVP ranks and gave him responsibility for its strategy (click over to GovCon Executive for more on Kissane’s new position and responsibilities).

“The passion and vision of both of these senior leaders will play an important role in leading NetApp into the future, ” Georgens said in a release. “Together they’ll not only help determine how NetApp addresses the needs of today, but how we set the IT agenda of tomorrow.”

According to NetApp, he joins the firm as the storage and data management industry is seeing changes through virtualization, flash, big data and cloud computing.

Kidd previously led product strategy and development for NetApp’s data management and management products and was part of the leadership team for the DataONTAP operating system.

Before joining NetApp, Kidd was CTO and VP of product management at Brocade.
