NCR’s Stan Ratcliffe Pens Column on Solving Long Airport Waiting Times

Stan Ratcliffe

A recent survey from International Air Transport Association found nearly a third of respondents cited long waiting times at security checkpoints as the most frustrating aspect of the screening process at airports.

Stan Ratcliffe, president of NCR Government Systems, cites that survey’s findings in a guest column for ExecutiveBiz on how the government can use the self-service approach to move passengers along.

Not only are the waiting times at airports a problem, Ratcliffe writes, but so is the waiting time to get a passport for travel as it can take up to six weeks to obtain one.

Ratcliffe proposes using mobile and web technologies to help steer travelers through the queue, including notifying them of wait times and diverting them to more open checkpoints.
