ITT Exelis Awarded $218M Aviator Night Vision Army Contract; Nick Bobay Comments

ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract by the U.S. Army for Generation 3 night vision systems, accessories and spare parts, according to a company statement.

The contract has a five-year period and is valued at $217.5 million.

According to Exelis, the contract allows the company to compete for deliveries of the AN/AVS-6 aviator night vision google and aviation image intensifiers.

Nick Bobay, vice president and general manager of Exelis’ night vision business area, said that the Generation 3 image intensification technology provides aviators with advanced night vision capability.

The Generation 3 AN/AVS-6 aviator night vision systems provides the operator with the ability to perform night operations during the year’s darkest nights, according to the company.
