Dell (NYSE: DELL) has promoted 22-year company veteran Troy West to vice president and general manager of its federal business, where he will oversee all military and civilan aspects of the government portfolio and Dell’s federal channel business.
West rejoined Dell Federal in 2011 to lead the public enterprise solutions sector after a stint serving as VP and GM of Dell’s business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In his elevated role, he will now report directly to Paul-Henri Ferrand, VP and GM of Dell’s North American commercial business.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be leading this experienced team again, and to use that experience to help our customers to solve some of their most complicated IT challenges in their service to the public, ” West said in the announcement.
The company announced in February it had realigned its federal business into a single unit in an effort to better leverage its business lines.
Dell said the goal of the realignment was to put Dell Federal in a position help federal agencies overcome flat budgets and heavy regulation.
As part of that effort, Joe Ayers was named VP and GM of defense sales while Jere Carroll took on the role of GM of the federal civilian business. Both will continue in those roles and report to West.
Chuck Lyles also assumed responsibility for the federal, state and local sectors as part of the realignment.
