L-3 Wins $126M For Navy T-45 Logistics

L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) Vertex Aerospace subsidiary has won a $126, 477, 094 contract modification to perform logistics support services for the U.S. Navy’s T-45A and T-45C aircraft fleet.

The Defense Department said Tuesday that the modification exercises an option of the previously-awarded indefinite-delivery, requirements type contract.

The subsidiary will provide logistics services and materials for organizational, intermediate and depot level maintenance to support 28 T-45A and 171 T-45C planes.

These planes are currently based at Naval Air Stations in Kingsville, Texas; Meridian, Miss.; and Pensacola, Fla.

More than half of the work will take place in Kingsville, Texas with the rest in Meridian, Miss. and Pensacola, Fla. with the Pentagon expecting work to finish by September 2013.

The company also holds a $181 million Navy contract to develop a data link system for the branch’s MH-60 Romeo helicopter, with full-rate production scheduled through 2017.
