L-3, Exelis Win $200M Army Contract for Aviator’s Night Vision Equipment

The U.S. Army has awarded a $200 million contract in order to acquire advanced night vision equipment, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

L-3 Communications Corp. (NYSE:LLL) and Exelis Inc. (NYSE:XLS) each won a share on the firm-fixed-price contract to supply 3rd generation aviator’s night vision imaging systems.

The contractors will perform work according to individual task orders, and are expected to complete by Sept. 3, 2017.

Three bids were received in response to the solicitation issued via the web.

The U.S. Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., is the contracting activity.
