General Dynamics Wins $395M For Abrams Tank R&D, Testing

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) has won a $395, 462, 993 U.S. Army contract to perform research, development and testing for the Abrams tank.

According to a Defense Department release, the company will develop an engineering change proposal under the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract.

Work will occur in Sterling Heights and Lima, Ohio through April 30, 2020 and the U.S. Army Contracting Command’s office in Warren, Mich. is the contracting activity.

In June, the U.S. agency responsible for the foreign military sales program announced Morocco was interested in acquiring $1 billion in upgrades for the country’s Abrams fleet.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the upgrades would cover radio systems, machine guns, smoke grenade launchers and related technical support.
