Accenture Wins Spot on $750M State Dept. IT Contract; Amy Tener Comments

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has won a $750 million prime contract with the U.S. Department of State to deliver technical support and consulting services to the agency, the company announced today.

Accenture received the award along with eight prime contractors under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity Development, Modernization, Enhancement contract vehicle

The DME contract, with one-year base and four one-year option periods will support the Bureau of Consular Affairs in its modernization efforts to improve and advance the bureau’s major business processing technology tools.

Amy Tener, Accenture senior executive, said DME will help improve the delivery of services to American citizens traveling abroad and will support efficient and secure issuance of passports and visas.

The Bureau of Consular Affairs performs visa and passport issuance as well as manages the Office of Overseas Citizens Services that offers assistance to Americans with lost passports.

Accenture said the multi-million contract will also enable the bureau to buy software engineering development and modernization, technical and operations support services and research support.

The State Department has previously granted contracts to Accenture for supply chain analysis and improved integrated logistics management.
