Raytheon Wins $176M To Update AF Warning Radars

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has won a potential $176, 084, 507 contract to update a warning radar at a U.S. Air Force station, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The Missile Defense Agency awarded the contract as a joint MDA/Air Force effort and is providing research, development, test and evaluation funding for fiscal years 2012 through 2017.

The Air Force will also provide procurement funding for the contract, with work scheduled to occur between July 25, 2012 and Sept. 30, 2017.

Raytheon’s integrated defense systems unit will upgrade the early warning radar at Clear Air Force Station, Alaska and could also upgrade the radar at Cape Cod AFS, Mass. under a contract option.

At this time, the MDA is providing $8, 840, 477 from its fiscal 2012 RDT&E fund and the Air Force is providing $19, 150, 772 from its procurement fund.

As of March, the company’s contract to perform design and engineering work on Standard Missile 3 is worth an estimated $808 million.

MDA is also providing research, development, test and evaluation funds for SM-3 contract work.
