Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has appointed 20-year human resources veteran Robert Duffy senior vice president for HR and administration, the company announced Thursday.
He will report to President and CEO Bill Brown and succeed Jeff Shuman, who is leaving the company after seven years to pursue other opportunities.
Duffy brings both domestic and international experience in aligning human resources with strategic business objectives, Brown said in a release.
Duffy will plan and implement the company’s global strategy for HR and administration, including workforce development, talent acquisition and leadership development and training.
He will also oversee employee relations, compensation and benefits, oversee real estate, environmental, health and safety, corporate relations, public relations, flight operations and business conduct.
Before joining Harris, he served in domestic and international leadership positions at United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) since 2008.
He most recently served as HR VP for the company’s Sikorsky aircraft operation and held similar roles within UTC Fire and Security, Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand and Pratt & Whitney.
He also held HR management positions at the James River Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell.
Harris recently created a new position, VP of corporate strategy and business development, and named Gregory Taylor to serve in that capacity.
