The U.S. Air Force is planning to award Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) a $782, 515, 497 contract modification to continue operating communications payloads in both manned and unmanned aircraft.
According to a FedBizOpps post dated June 21, the potential contract value would go from $874, 381, 561 to $1, 656, 897, 058 total, including options.
Contract work to operate the Battlefield Airborne Communications Nodes would begin in June 2012 and continue through September 2015 in optioned intervals of no more than 12 months each.
Work would occur between June 2012 and September 2015 in optioned intervals not exceeding 12 months each.
The company would continue operating and maintaining three E-11A aircraft, one EQ-4B unmanned aerial vehicle and two other EQ-4Bs equipped with the BACN payload.
Work under the modification also includes platform modifications, payload repair parts and the company will use cryptographic equipment.
