Raytheon Wins $79M For Navy Satellite Terminals; Scott Whatmough Comments

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has won a $79 million contract to produce 47 additional satellite terminals for the U.S. Navy, the company announced Monday.

Since 2010, the company has produced the Navy Multiband Terminal and expects to build more than 350 units for both U.S and international customers under a production contract.

Raytheon and the Navy are working to develop and demonstrate a multibanded terminal using the advanced very high frequency waveform, said Scott Whatmough, vice president of integrated systems for the network centric systems business.

The company is producing three AEHF terminals for the U.S. military, one for the Army and the other for the Air Force.

Raytheon is the only provider of AEHF terminals to the U.S. armed forces, the company said.

NMT systems incorporate the company’s XDR waveform, a communications protocol used for strategic and tactical military communications.
