SAIC Competing For C4ISR, Vehicle Testing Support On $698M IDIQ; Jim Thigpen Comments

SAIC Inc. (NYSE: SAI) will compete under a $698 million U.S. Navy contract to provide engineering and prototyping integration for command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

The company said the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic awarded the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, which has one base year and four one-year options.

SAIC is competing with BAE Systems for task orders to perform work.

The company has previously worked with SSC Atlantic to integrate systems and provide technical support for tactical vehicles, said Jim Thigpen, a senior vice president and business unit general manager.

Work could also include engineering, prototyping integration, software integration, product evaluations and testing for the vehicles.

The company said it will support the Marine Corps‘ high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicle; joint explosive ordnance disposal rapid response vehicle; mine- resistant, ambush-protected vehicles; and other Defense Department vehicle platforms.

Contract work will occur at SSC Atlantic headquarters in Charleston, S.C. and could extend to other Navy and Marine Corps installations worldwide based on task orders.
