India plans to spend $560 million on 145 ultra-light howitzer guns from BAE Systems Inc., the Wall Street Journal reports.
The sale is part of India’s military modernization efforts and would be processed as a foreign military sale, where the transaction is handled directly between the U.S. and Indian governments.
A defense official told the Journal that the company would deliver the howitzers as completely-built guns.
BAE is also reportedly near agreement on an $808 million foreign sale, where Saudi Arabia would purchase up to 30 Hawk aircraft for in-flight training.
That deal could happen within the next few months, the Sunday Times reported.
