Red Hat Names HP, IBM Vet Arun Oberoi Global Sales Lead

Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT) has appointed Arun Oberoi executive vice president of global sales and services, the company announced Thursday.

The Raleigh, N.C.-based open source software firm said he will be responsible for developing sales and services strategies.

He will also be tasked with expanding business into new markets through integration sales and technology, said President and CEO Jim Whitehurst.

Prior to joining Red Hat, he served as president and CEO at data center infrastructure management provider Viridity Software.

Before Viridity, he served as CEO of governance and management software startup Aveksa.

Prior to Aveksa, he joined IBM (NYSE: LMT) through that company’s acquisition of network and service management solutions provider Micromuse.

There, he served as executive vice president of worldwide sales and services.

His career at Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) includes service as vice president and general manager of worldwide top 100 corporate accounts and industries and as vice president and general manager of worldwide software sales and marketing.
