The Commonwealth of Australia has selected L-3 Communications’ (NYSE: LLL) C-27J Spartan for its battlefield airlifter program through a foreign military sale valued around $600 million.
The New York, Ny.-based firm said Friday in addition to the aircraft accounting for around $300 million of the contract, it will also provide logistics support, spare parts and training services.
The C-27J is equipped with similar engines and systems to Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) C-130J Super Hercules.
It is currently used as a joint cargo aircraft by the U.S. military.
