The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will soon award a potential $22 billion information technology services contract, a top DHS official recently said, according to Federal Computer Week.

Kevin Boshears, director of the office of small and disadvantaged business utilization, said contracts under the original Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions vehicle will continue with EAGLE II.

EAGLE II will have a five base-year period and a one-year option, according to a request for proposals on FedBizOpps.

DHS is conducting a source selection restricted to small business and a separate, open selection.

Boshear added that DHS has $8 billion in contract funds left to award for fiscal year 2012, including awards for IT, security services and office supplies.

Recently, DHS awarded a potential $3 billion contract for communications equipment, through which other agencies such as the White House Communications Agency can purchase equipment.
