Harris Wins $75M for Falcon III Multiband Manpack Radios

Harris Corp. announced Monday it won a $75 million U.S. Air Force contract for Falcon III multiband manpack radios.

The Melbourne, Fla.-based firm said the radios will provide next-generation wideband tactical communications for mission critical situations, close-air support, precision fires, MEDVAC and Collaborative chat.

George Helm, president, Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications said Falcon III also delivers voice, video and data in real time.

The Air Force plans to put them in the hands of ground controllers including combat controllers.

To date the communications and information technology company has delivered more than16, 000 AN/PRC-117G radio systems to the Defense Department and allies such as Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, other NATO nations and Australia.
