Boeing, Lockheed Launch Services JV Wins $398M AF Award

A Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) joint venture has won a $398 million U.S. Air Force contract to perform launch services for two missions, the Defense Department announced Monday.

United Launch Alliance‘s services subsidiary, United Launch Services, will perform Atlas V evolved expendable launch vehicle services for a mission in the Mobile User Objective System program.

Delta IV launch services will support a GPS mission, the Pentagon said.

Work under the firm-fixed-price contract will occur in Decatur, Ala. and the Pentagon expects the work to finish by Nov. 30, 2014

The Space and Missile Center in El Segundo, Calif. is the contracting activity.

ULS also holds an estimated $1.5 billion contract to provide launch services for a National Reconnaissance Office mission, meteorological satellites and an Air Force Space Command mission.
