AF Planning IBM Budget Admin Contract, May Open For Bids

The Air Force plants to award IBM a sole-source contract for systems administration and engineering support to track and maintain the branch’s budget, the branch announced Thursday.

In a notice on FedBizOpps, the Air Force said work for the Automated Budget Interactive Data Environment System would occur over one base year and potentially three option years.

IBM is the only source that can support ABIDES because of the unique and specialized nature of the work, the branch said.

However, the Air Force will accept responses to the notice from contractors and will determine whether to open the contract to competitive bidding.

Responses are due by the close of business on Thursday.
