General Dynamics NASSCO Wins $69M for Comstock Renovation

General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) NASSCO subsidiary has won a $68, 915, 249 U.S. Navy contract modification to renovate the USS Comstock, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The San Diego-based subsidiary will inspect, update and test the dock landing ship’s components and systems.

This contract falls under fiscal 2012 year funds for Extended Docking Phased Maintenance Availability.

Work will occur in San Diego and the Pentagon expects work to finish in May 2013.

The Navy’s Southwest Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego is the contracting activity.

On Tuesday, the parent company announced it named John Casey executive vice president of its marine systems group, which includes NASSCO, Electric Boat and Bath Iron Works.

He has served as president of Electric Boat since 2003 and joined the submarine maker in 1979.
