Boeing Hoping for Foreign C-17 Sales

Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) will slow C-17 aircraft production from 15 to 10 units per year due to decreased demand, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The Globemaster was developed in the 1980s and has a payload of 169, 000 pounds.

The military used the airlifter in Iraq and Afghanistan and costs between $200-270 million per unit.

The company is looking for potential clients that include Australia, Canada, India, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, according to the Journal.

The British government recently ordered its eighth Globemaster and expects to receive the plane later this year.

That would be the eighth C-17 in the country’s fleet.

The Chicago-based aerospace firm could soon manufacture C-17s for Saudi Arabia, the Journal reports.
