ATK Wins $68M for Army Ammo Cartridges

ATK (NYSE: ATK) won a $68.4 million U.S. Army contract modification to provide the branch with ammunition cartridges, the Defense Department announced Monday.

The Arlington, Va.-based aerospace and defense firm will provide the branch with the 30-millimeter, M789 dual-purpose ammunition cartridges under an existing contract.

Work under the firm-fixed-price contract will occur in Mesa, Ariz. and the Pentagon expects the work to finish on March 30, 2014.

The Army Contracting Command’s office in Rock Island, Ill. is the contracting activity.

The Army also awarded the company an estimated $2.5 billion contract to provide 5.56 millimeter ammunition.

The company will produce that ammunition in Independence, Mo., its center for small caliber ammunition production.
