General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) has won a $78 million Defense Logistics Agency contract to provide digital picture archiving and communication systems, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The Fairfield, Conn.-based company will also provide system parts, accessories, upgrades, and maintenance and training support.

The U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies will use the systems.

The firm-fixed-price contract is appropriated under the defense working capital funds for fiscal years 2012 through 2017.

The DLA’s troop support office in Philadelphia is the contracting activity.

BAE Systems recently won an Army contract to provide data management software for storing geospatial information.

Soldiers will use the software to identify and catalog images.
