Air Force Near Finish Line on $24B NETCENTS-2

The U.S. Air Force is on track to soon finish awarding contracts on a $24 billion vehicle for network-centric supplies, Defense Systems reports.

Five source selections are currently underway, Stephen Davis, chief of the enterprise systems branch of the Air Force’s program executive office for enterprise information systems, told the publication.

The branch plans to begin handing down those awards in April and finish by September, he said.

It has set aside $11 billion of the Network Centric Solutions-2 contract for small businesses and is requiring large businesses to subcontract 23 percent of their contract work to smaller counterparts.

Davis said the Air Force is planning to award an advisory and assistance contract.

CACI International Inc. (NYSE: CACI) won a position on NETCENTS-2 in February 2011 to provide engineering integration and service management support.

This deal is potentially worth $460 million over four years, including options.
