PAE Names BAE, Pentagon Veteran Whit Cobb General Counsel

Paul "Whit" Cobb

PAE appointed Paul “Whit” Cobb general counsel and senior vice president, effective Feb. 13, PAE announced Tuesday.

Cobb will be responsible for all of PAE’s legal matters and PAE’s compliance environment.

Cobb told GovCon Wire this is an interesting time for him to join PAE as it spun off from Lockheed Martin in April and completed its first acquisition in November.

Cobb will also oversee PAE’s international trade compliance office, an internal department that monitors PAE’s export practices.

Cobb previously served as vice president and deputy general counsel for BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary.

Over the course of his eight years in that post, Cobb said he established legal frameworks and procedures for domestic and international BAE legal entities.

Prior to joining BAE, Cobb served as the Defense Department‘s deputy general counsel (legal counsel), where he also established a military commissions process.

Cobb said his previous experience gives him a senior level perspective that will help him handle PAE’s legal matters as the company grows.

“It has prepared me to handle whatever comes through the door, ” Cobb added.
