Dell Realigns Federal Business; Joe Ayers to Lead Federal Defense

Joe Ayers, Dell

Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) has reorganized its federal business into a single unit and appointed Chuck Lyles to oversee its federal, state and local government sectors.

The news is according to a Dell statement obtained by Washington Technology, which also said George Newstrom will serve as the unit’s general manager.

Newstrom is the former secretary of technology for Virginia under then Gov. Warner.

The statement said Dell has tapped Joe Ayers to be vice president and general manager of Dell Federal Defense and Jere Carroll to be general manager of Dell Federal Civilian.

Dell said the realignment will allow it to leverage its lines of business to help federal customers overcome heavy regulation and flat budgets.
