CSC CEO Michael Laphen to Retire by Nov. 2012

Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) announced today that Chairman, President and CEO Michael Laphen will retire from his posts by November 2012.

The company said in its release that Laphen will continue to serve until a successor is named and will stay on through the transition.

CSC has retained executive recruiting firm Heidrick & Struggles to help its search committee identify a successor.

Laphen began his professional career with CSC in 1977 and assumed his current positions on different dates in 2007. Prior to that, he served as president and chief operating office responsible for executing the company’s business plan.

He previously served as the chief executive in CSC’s European group from 2000 to 2003. Earlier, he was president of the civil group in CSC’s federal sector after a term as president of CSC’s integrated systems division.

“CSC’s dedicated employees and management team have put CSC on a solid footing, and I am confident that the company is well positioned for its next phase of growth and development, ” said Laphen. “I look forward to working with the board of directors and my successor to ensure a seamless transition.”
