Interior Issues RFI for Cloud Based Email System

The Interior Department‘s acquisition services directorate is seeking a cloud email and collaboration service, according to a posting on the government’s federal business opportunities site.

The department wants to standardize all 92, 000 of its personnel on a common e-mail platform and expects to issue a request for proposals on Feb. 7, 2012.

The department is looking to award a contract to a provider that can:

  • Ensure privacy and security
  • Provide a cloud-based solution that includes e-mail, calendaring, archiving and instant messaging
  • Reduce overall IT costs

The firm-fixed-price contract will have a one-year base period and six option years.
